How do you deal with stress?

Recent surveys suggest that Stress is the most common cause of long term sickness  absence for manual and non manual employees (CIPD survey).

With unemployment at an all time high, budget cuts, more public sector, private sector and non profit organisations report they will be making redundancies over the next six months. Its unsurprising that we are feeling the pressure and stress is on the rise.

With this in mind I returned to my positive thinking literature, I have found in the past it has lifted me and sometimes encourages me to take opportunities presented me that I wouldnt have considered before.

I was discussing this with my friends some who thought it was nonsense and others who have similar feeling to mine that it can be inspirational and help us to feel less stressed and more calm.

A friend reported that her employers have brought in a Life coach to encourage disengaged employees which makes me wonder if other employers do the same?

It must be difficult as we all deal with stress differently, I turn to books others may want to talk to a proffessional and some of us suffer in silence. We encourage all our employers to consider Employee Assistance Programmes for their employees as we need to keep the workforce we have happy and healthy in these times!

On that note back to my book "The Monk who sold his Ferrari" ..
